A Memorial to Scouts Injured on the Front Lines...

...of Scouting

It is an award that one can hope he will never receive. It is Troop 327's Purple Heart Award. The Purple Heart Award is earned by being injured on Scouting's front lines, and usually, being hospitalized. The emblem of the Purple Heart Award is a small purple heart with two purple ribbons suspended from the heart. The Purple Heart represents bravery and fortitude, and the wearer is truly a Boy Scout.

Each recipient of the Purple Heart Award will be preserved in history. He shall be inducted into the Troop 327 Purple Heart Hall of Fame. It is an honor for a Boy Scout to have his name forever preserved in this Hall of Fame, for whoever is memorialized here has spilled his pain for (maybe) the betterment of Scouting. Below are those brave Scouts who have earned the Troop 327 Purple Heart Award.

Inductees into the Troop 327 Purple Heart Hall of Fame

Patrick B. (inducted July 30, 2007) - It was but five minutes until Patrick was going to leave Summer Camp, and he and Jonathan S. were playing a *friendly* game of Slapjack. They both went to slap the deck of cards and (apparently) Patrick got it first; Jonathan was not far behind, though. You can imagine what happened then. As it turned out, Patrick's thumb was broken along with a few other bones.

Adam B. (inducted July 30, 2007) - Adam was taken to the hospital in the middle of Summer Camp because he got splintered beneath the fingernail and nobody could remove it. So, how, might you ask, did Adam get this Purple Heart-deserving injury? He was flushing a toilet in the dining hall and apparently missed the flusher. The moral of the story? Never make Adam flush a toilet again.

Jeremy B. (inducted July 30, 2007) - Jeremy was taken to the hospital after he went into shock during Summer Camp. So, why did he go into shock? Well, he accidentally carved his hand instead of a block of wood. Remember this, folks: "Wood good. Fleshy messy."

Andrew H. (inducted July 30, 2007) - Ah, yes. Andrew suffered from a classic case of the greatly feared Help-I-Got-A-Fishhook-Stuck-In-My-Leg wound. Undoubtedly, Andrew was the biggest catch of the day. He was sent to the hospital to get it removed, thus earning Troop 327's Purple Heart Award.
