Parents Meeting for July 09, 2007
FEEDBACK FROM CAMP
Overall reaction was very positive and many thanks go to Randy and company for all of his work in getting things ready.
When pushed for things that we can do better, the overall points seamed to steamed from the large numbers of 1st year boys in the group (not a bad problem to have). Items to be noted for possible changes next year:
- Need each parent to pre-fill the medication forms and have them ready for the medicine check-in.
- Each 1st year scout paired with a seasoned scout for the first day or so.
- Each scout needs to write down and keep his agenda.
- Many adult leaders were asked 100s of times, "What time is it?" Boys need watches, also a posted clock at the site.
- Would like to rethink the "down time" after dinner. Can cause some home sick feelings to fester and become an issue.
- Remind the boys - The second year is always better.
- Daddy-long legs... any way to calm fears of the boys BEFORE camp????
MERIT BADGE PARTIALS:
For the boys that partially finished the requirements for a merit badge(s), here are some details for closure.
- They are encouraged to do them ASAP, loose the chance to complete after one year.
- The WEB site has the listing of what partials your son has.
- The Blue cards are kept by the leaders (Least they get lost) and have they have the specific part of the merit achievement still needs to be inished.
- First Aid: Anita will work with the boys.
- Swimming: Christina and Brian Murphy are working to get a week night at a pool to complete. Dates will come via e-mail.
- Fishing: Mike E. and Pula L. will lead.
- Communication and Citizenship: Michael B.
- Carving: Glenn G.
- Canoe: Need an adult lead.
- Camping: Need an adult lead.
- Reptile: Need an adult lead.
We also may plan the September Campout to really focus on getting these closed out.
Please help out where you can.
